I don't think I've seen anyone here mention much about Thom Hartmann -- I'm a huge fan of his work and it's very much in line with the philosophy of this network. He's a popular talk radio host, but he's also written several books and articles on ADHD.

Thom says that having ADHD in modern society is like being a hunter in a farmer's world. This chart shows the difference between the "Disorder" view and the "Hunter" view. For an excellent overview of his work, I recommend his article, Hunters and Farmers Five Years Later.

In a burst of inspiration one day (read that as "I was looking for an excuse not to work"), I wrote the following diamante poem inspired by his work:

Hunter
Barbarian, nomadic
Stalking, tracking, aiming
Bows, arrows, hoes, wheelbarrows
Ploughing, sowing, growing
Agrarian, bucolic
Farmer

Just something a little different for you today...

Er, I hope not while driving! That would truly be the ultimate distraction. :-)

Yes, but wouldn't it be the proper way for an ADHD person to act? Dividing the attention? :-)

ROFLMBO !!! LOL HAHAHA!

Now see? This is "great"! JOKES! I mean this stuff is funny to me!

No :) I don't read it while I'm driving silly... it's in there so I don't forget to bring it with me to read on my lunch hour ... (I know you know... I'm just saying, for sayings sake.)

Russ, LOL divided attention ! LOL :) Good one...

Lets take Russ here... (I still have to read and respond to the post you made, I think Friday. I didn't forget I was doing some other stuff...) In his mind, he has a wealth of information on this topic as well!

While we may be wired differently... it is soooo cool to hang out and talk to you all about this little gift. I'm serious... I never minded being different so much as I minded not being believed. Know what I mean?

This feels good.

I don't care how much we all may say, "I don't care what other people think" ... while I can agree with this when it pertains to breaking the mold and thinking outside the box, at the same time...

People "need" people of like mind and furthermore, those who have ... how do I say this, moved past where we are now... on different levels, emotionally, life experiences etc.,

For support ... and ... Russ' joke is a great thing because life "is" funny... and I feel that the ability to laugh at things... is a good quality to have, to laugh at ourselves, and see the humor is really cool.

Hmmph :)

Hey, I'm 300 pounds. If I can't laugh at myself, who the hell can?! :-)

I talk to myself all the time :) Particularly if I"m annoyed or something... I catch people in the supermarket doing it as well... and I'll giggle, they'll look at me... and I'll say "Get better answers that way don'tcha?:)" They laugh too...
