...is the use of the ADD label as a crutch. As in "well, I have ADD, so therefore I'm different." Would you all be willing to help me keep this board dedicated to solutions and CHARACTERISTICS rather than having a bunch of us going around labeling ourselves?

Whether you do have ADD or not really isn't the issue. If you are having trouble with focus, organization, time management and productivity and the tools and resources you've tried aren't working, maybe it's time for something else.

My experience has led me to build an entire business and personal development system based on ADD-friendly concepts and tactics. Of course, I didn't know that because I was just simply trying to help myself build my business at the time it was created. Now, when I help others and they say "wow, it can be so simple!" I finally realize how far I've taken coping with ADD and I know I will help lots of other people.

When I was first diagnosed with ADD, I felt horrible. What, ME? a LABEL? I bet many of you can identify with that, and some just feel relief that there is a solution to help you become successful.

Either way, I'll just once again ask for all of your help. This is our network and let's keep it uplifting and powerful as it grows. It's been great so far, and our intention can keep it strong.

Stephanie

Hello again, I'm back. I'm car shopping online today... I'll miss my car, lots of memories in it, but it's time. Poor thing. I've been looking at Altima's, maybe a Maxima... I'd LOVE a BMW yet at the same time I'm not sure if they're cost effective considering I'm still working "and" building my practice.

I mean, technically speaking, the price to maintain a beemer would be alot more than another vehicle right? Which I want to avoid. I'll have the prosperity enough, soon enough but I'm not a fan of putting the cart before the horse and strapping myself down like that. So I'm browsing on line for different vehicles etc.,

Anyway :) Now that I'm done thinking out loud about that...

For myself, much as Stephanie has said here, I've just recognized certain things in myself and thought...wow! this isn't working and instead of asking myself "why" (even after I learned about ADD/ADHD and saw "many" of the same symptoms in myself and I thought WOW that's me!) I still gratefully forgot all about the label, was actually relieved that I had simply worked around it by recognizing what I didn't want to happen and making things work for me. All the while working around myself.

I've known all my life I did certain things certain ways due to being forgetful or not focusing ...so I had to work around me. One thing that is highly useful is my planner, which I have to replace. It helps me to remember what it is that I want to do, there's a running list of the things that "I" have accomplished so I feel good about what I'm doing as well.

And you know it certainly helps to have this non label thing. Labels I feel promotes guilt and things we just do not need to think about. Like, OMG I'm strange I don't fit in, or I'm different....

So what? I've always said I'm UNIQUE! and I am, and so are all of you.

I'm also very organized, it helps me to keep clarity when I can find things and everything has it's place. I only have to misplace something once and leave without it to go right back to good habits. Believe me when I say that.

The cool thing about ADD is I get to just zone, while not missing the important parts of lectures. My brain is wise enough to remove all the chattering and only pick up on the important aspects of what I need to hear. THAT's really cool. :)
